Position: Deputy Head of the Semiconductor Department, Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, Prague.

Specialization: Diamond CVD growth, Nanostructured Diamond Coatings in Electronics & Life Sciences

At the NANOCON´22 conference Assoc. Prof. Alexander Kromka will present the opening lecture "Nanostructured Diamond Coatings with Unique Functions for Biomedical Engineering" at the Session A.

Personal Background and Education:
Prof. Alexander Kromka (50) born in Nitra (Slovakia) has received his M.S. degree in Slovak Technical University/Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology (Bratislava, Slovak Republic) in 1995 and at the same university he received also the Ph.D. degree (2001);

He was a postdoctoral fellow (2001-2002) in the Institute of Electronic Devices and Circuits at the group of Prof. Dr. Erhard Kohn (EGS, ULM, Germany). His postdoc periods were followed by the position (2003-2005) of the researcher at rho-best coating plc., a group of Dr. Doris Steinmuller-Nethl (Innsbruck, Austria). He was habilitated in Applied Physics at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Czech Technical University in Prague; Theme: Advanced diamond-based (bio)sensors. He received DrSc. degree at the Slovak Academy of Sciences in Electrotechnology and materials (2017), Thesis: Novel trends in diamond thin film technologies for fundamental and applied research. Since 2015 A. Kromka is the lecturer and researcher member at the Department of Physics, Czech Technical University in Prague, and since 2022 he is the deputy head of the Department of Semiconductors at the Institute of Physics CAS and the group leader of the Diamond growth.

Research Interests:
The research at the Diamond Laboratory led by Dr. Kromka is focused on growth by microwave plasma and hot filament CVD; functional layer for electronic or MEMS devices; composites of various geometries multilayers and 3D structures, nanodiamond-polymer composites; chemically and mechanically resistive coatings; quantum confinement phenomena and size-related effects; diamond and TMD interfaces; optical active PL centers (SiV, GeV); applications & industry (electrodes for water cleaning, electrochemistry, catalyses, regenerative medicine, artificial substrates for tissue engineering, biocompatible coatings for implants, etc.).

Summary of publication activity:
Co-author of over 280+ scientific articles in international peer-reviewed journals that were cited more than 4.400 times, H-index 36; 6 patents, 8 utility models (CZ), and 2 industrial procedures.
