At the NANOCON´22 conference Dr. Táňa Závodná will present the invited lecture "Innovative Approaches in Nanomaterial Risk Assessment".  


Professional Background:
Táňa Závodná graduated from the Faculty of Safety Engineering, VSB – Technical University of Ostrava, Ostrava, Czech Republic, in 2012. She passed an internship at the Karolinska Institutet, Department of Environmental Medicine, Stockholm, Sweden (Prof. Bengt Fadeel, 2013) where she participated in a study on immunotoxic and immunomodulatory effects of carbon-based nanomaterials. She completed her Ph.D. at the Faculty of Safety Engineering, VSB – Technical University of Ostrava, Ostrava, Czech Republic, in 2020, in the field of nanosafety. Since 2020, she has been a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Genetic Toxicology and Epigenetics, Institute of Experimental Medicine of the Czech Academy of Sciences (Prague).


Research interests and main results:
Táňa Závodná specializes in studies on toxic effects of engineered nanoparticles and particulate air pollution (especially ultrafine particles). Her Ph.D.  thesis was focused on safety management of nanomaterials in occupational settings.  She has been also involved in research of mechanisms of toxic effects of nanomaterials, the role of physico-chemical characteristics in toxicity of nanomaterials, and neurodegenerative effects of inhaled (nano)particles. She has participated in both EU and national projects dealing with, for example, regulatory aspects of nanomaterials (NANoREG), standardization of testing in nanotoxicology (QualityNano), and modelling toxicity of nanomaterials (COST Action MODENA).


Publication activity:
She is author or co-author of 20 peer reviewed papers, H-index: 10 (September 2022), 245 citations without self-citations.
